Our Story

Lulu & Marula is a natural, ethically produced skin and body care collection developed in our beauty studio in Cape Town, South Africa. We create conscious, scientifically formulated skin care that works with your skin to balance and boost its natural processes for healthier, happier skin. 

Lulu & Marula was started in 2013 by Jesslynn Shepherd, a long-time beauty enthusiast, skincare product hoarder, and green living idealist. The brand launched in response to Jesslynn's personal struggles to find a simple, truly natural solution to her complicated skin. A few years later, professional skincare scientist Monique Spaltman joined the team, and now heads up all product research, development and testing to ensure top-notch quality, always.

Only pure botanical and plant-derived ingredients are used; none of our products contain any artificial colours, fragrances, parabens, petrochemicals, synthetics or other harmful ingredients. We don’t test on animals, and all our products are endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty.
